Historic preservation groups throughout the country were working to restore and record wood-frame barns. A state-wide survey was under way in Iowa to record the location of standing barns. Many farm enthusiasts were also restoring their barns, as did Larry Ellis, of rural Lytton. This barn, built around 1918, underwent renovations in 2000 and 2001. Ellis used the barn as part of the farm’s cattle operations.
