Jessica Newman, center, holds a photo and an Army scrapbook of her husband, Mark Newman, an Army Reserve sergeant in Iraq, inside the U.S. postal office in Fort Dodge. On either side of her is Megan Averill, then 14, and Katie Averill, her mother. The two, after witnessing an unidentified man pay for Newman’s postage for her care package she was sending to her husband in Iraq, are developing a program that will take donations from area residents to help families pay for the cost of mailing packages to Iraq. Megan Averill coined the name, Stamp of Support for the project.
