NEWS: Monsignor Kevin McCoy was named interim president of St. Edmond Catholic Schools.

SPORTS: Newell-Fonda was the Class 1A runner-up in the state softball tournament after a 2-1 defeat by Earlham.

25 Years ago: July 25, 1994

NEWS: Fort Dodge Fire Chief Steve Kolacia laid out several goals for the Fire Department, including having the “most qualified people under my command.”

SPORTS: Five St. Edmond players made the all-North Central Conference baseball teams: pitcher Josh Lindner, catcher Dave Moench, and outfielder Gabe Arnold were on the first team, and infielder Jarret Ruddy and utility player Nick Jenkins were on the second team.

50 Years ago: July 25, 1969

NEWS: A 1970 Webster County budget totaling $3,976,820 was approved by the Board of Supervisors.

SPORTS: The Dodger baseball team beat Denison 2-1 in the district tournament, scoring both runs in the seventh inning.
