NEWS: The Rev. Earl V. Nelson, the Rev. Robert H. Ruppert, and the Rev. Donald L. Carver were all retiring from the ministry of the Iowa United Methodist Church. They either served or grew up in the area.

SPORTS: Webster City beat Des Moines Lincoln 9-2 and Ames 5-4 in softball.

NEWS: Vandals broke into the Rogers Park concession stand the night before the park was dedicated.
