NEWS: Ella Brabbit and her sisters, Mary and Lillian Vit, all of Fort Dodge, were reported safe in Austria. They had been visiting family in Czechoslovakia when Soviet troops invaded the country.

SPORTS: Iowa State University golfer John Benda, of Humboldt, won the Jefferson Amateur golf tournament.
