NEWS: The Fort Dodge Kennel Club hosted the United Kennel Club Obedience and Agility Trials at the Webster County Fairgrounds.
SPORTS: The Laurens-Marathon boys basketball team won the small school division at the Simpson Team Camp with a record of 16-0.

NEWS: The Five Island Lake Restoration Board ran out of funds to continue the dredging project.
SPORTS: Four individuals affiliated with stock car racing at the Hamilton County Speedway were nominated as Maxwell House Real Heroes of NASCAR.
50 Years ago: Aug. 10, 1968
NEWS: Curt Maschino, 16, saved the life of Jim Burwell, of Jackson, Mississippi, as they assembled metal bleachers at Harlan Rogers Park. Burwell came in contact with electric current while using an electric power wrench while standing in a pool of water; Maschino grabbed the cord and pulled the tool out of Burwell’s hands.
SPORTS: Sandy’s Distributing beat Webster City John Deere 3-2 in softball.
