ICCC students inducted into Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society

Forty-five new members were inducted into Iowa Central's Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society Wednesday.

The Iowa Central Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society held its induction ceremony on Wednesday.

A total of 45 new members were inducted into Iowa Central’s Lambda Kappa chapter.

To be eligible for PTK, students must have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours of college level course work and have a grade-point average of 3.50 or higher. There are four cornerstones of PTK: Service, Fellowship, Scholarship, and Leadership.

“Phi Theta Kappa focuses a lot on service,” said chapter adviser Samantha McClain. “We try to do one or two service projects per semester. Some projects we’ve done over the past few years include, Share What You Wear, food drive in the campus apartments, care packages for deployed troops, making fleece blankets for hospice and hosting a supply drive for Almost Home Humane Society.”

As members of PTK, students have the opportunity to participate in leadership conferences, seminars, and webinars throughout the state of Iowa. They may also attend the international convention and are eligible for transfer scholarships to four-year schools.

Newly inducted members of the Iowa Central Chapter include: Meadow Balkenende, Holly Bartek, Nicholoas Becker, Alexander Blaess, Julie Burke, Alex Bushman, Malaney Butrick, James Cairns, Lauren Chetty, Jaren Christy, Jose Colina, Alexandra Curtis, Sierra D’Estaing-Orssten, Jade Durfey, Madelyn Ehler, Vanessa Ellwanger, Eric Gerdes, Brooke Greene, Sierra Hallmann, Orwa Hamed, Allison Jensen, Carter Koeppen, Dakota Kunz, Gabriel Lane, Jeffrey Littrel, Michael Magnifico, Mya McClain, Nicole Miller, Lubelihle Moyo, Ashley Reicks, Ximena Rosiles Gonzalez, MaKenna Schaffner, Joseph Shadle, Sean Sheets, Erin Shinn, Zayne Smith, Dawn Smits, Stacy Suiter, Samuel Sytsma, Kaitlyn Thompson, Chelsy Velasco, Ethan Wilson, Kolby Wilson, Elijah Yates and Sally Zuviri.

Phi Theta Kappa has more than 3.5 million members around the world.
