Where do you teach?

Fort Dodge Middle School

What grade/subject do you teach?

7th Grade Language Arts

Why do you teach?

I teach because I have always had a passion to work with children. I wanted to make a change in our community and I knew teaching was one way I could impact a lot of people.

What is your favorite part of the school day?

My favorite part of the day is when I have time to be silly with my students. I love when we have a little down time, so that I can connect with the students other than our regular day-to-day curriculum.

What are you working hardest on right now?

I am currently working the hardest on trying to have my students find the love of reading. It can be a challenging yet rewarding task.

What are you most proud of as a teacher?

I am most proud of creating an environment where all students feel welcome in my room.

What makes you happiest as a teacher?

I am the happiest as a teacher when students find growth in life-long skills such as mindsets and positive thinking.

How do you contribute to/how are you involved in our community outside of school?

I support the many local businesses that we have here. I also attend the sporting events for both Fort Dodge and Iowa Central.

What are your interests/hobbies outside of school?

I spend all of my free time with my cute doggo, Willow. I also watch a lot of football!

What do you wish your students/families knew about you?

I wish that families knew how much I cared about each student as an individual. I understand that middle school is hard and we are learning to grow to be the best we can.

What does Together We Rise mean to you?

Together We Rise means that we need to be a team in order to accomplish great things. It takes hard work in order to grow and by having an awesome team, we accomplish anything.
