The Fort Dodge Community School District has announced its students and employee of the month for April. This program recognizes one elementary, one middle school and one high school student, as well as one staff member monthly for exceeding expectations.

Noah Flaherty is the elementary student of the month. Lisa Reisner nominated Flaherty. She stated Flaherty sets goals and continues to strive to get better. He loves to be challenged in math, and perseveres when it gets tough. He loves a good book and can get lost in reading. He encourages and supports his classmates in their learning. Flaherty is kind to his classmates, empathizes with others and wants the best for them. He loves a good laugh and is always making his classmates and teachers smile. Reisner concluded by saying, “Our students challenge each other to display kindness and to make our school and world a better place. Noah shows up to do that every day. He can be counted on to do what is right.” He is the son of Ryan and Lisa Flaherty.

Ky’Mariana Mosley is the middle school student of the month. Chris Anderson nominated Mosley. He said Mosley not only gets her work done, but it is done well. She usually goes above the minimum requirements and inquires about how it could be done better. Mosley helps students, current and new, around her be better by setting a good example. On multiple occasions she has been seen stopping what she is working on to help others. It is appreciated that she greets adults throughout the building. Anderson concluded by saying, “Ky does a great job of not only taking care of getting her own work done, but also helping others when they need it.” She is the daughter of Kamisha Mosley.

Dairon de los Santos is the Senior High Student of the Month. Rachel Pettigrew nominated de los Santos. She said he exhibits positive academic behaviors and pushes himself to overcome obstacles. He is an English Language Learner who has acquired English quickly and is excelling at school. He overcomes daily obstacles to meet his goals and all the while encourages everyone around him to be their best version of themselves. He helps other students who are new and is always respectful and attentive toward his teachers. Pettigrew concluded by saying, “Dairon continues to be positive, focused, optimistic and driven to meet his goals. I am truly proud of this young man, his integrity and his grit.” He is the son of Ordalina Garcia Benfield.

Emma Lampe is the employee of the month. Rebecca Gascho nominated Lampe. She said Lampe embodies the traits that define a model FDCSD employee: professional, reliable, supportive, and an effective collaborator. Gascho appreciates Lampe’s willingness to answer questions or point her in the right direction for clarification if she doesn’t know. Lampe responds quickly to requests and offers assistance often. Lampe has provided support for the staff in charge of facilitating the At Home learning, ensuring the process progressed as smoothly as possible for students, families and staff. Lampe is always positive and upbeat in her interactions. Gascho concluded by saying, “Emma is a great partner to have. We are all better at what we do because of Emma and we are so fortunate to have her in our District!”
