Six seventh- and eighth-grade students from Fort Dodge Middle School were selected for the 2019 North Central Iowa Bandmasters Association Honor Band.

The NCIBA Honor Band performed Nov. 16 in Algona. The students spent the day rehearsing with band students from other schools before presenting the concert that evening.

Students representing Fort Dodge Middle School were: Seventh grade: Grace Behrens on clarinet and Micah Flaherty on trombone.

Eighth grade students were Karch Smith, trumpet; Colton Hale, trumpet; Shelby Stein, flute; and Emily Oliver, alto saxophone.

“The students worked hard to prepare the challenging honor band music,” said Ryan Swedean, FDMS band instructor. “I’m proud of the students selected for this honor. They did a great job representing Fort Dodge Middle School and our community at this event.”
