Miles of Pennies to benefit FDCSD schools

Campaign begins today and runs through April 26

A penny might not mean a lot to one person’s bank account, but for the Fort Dodge Community School District, pennies will lead to new educational resources.

Miles of Pennies, an annual school fundraising campaign, has proven just how far a penny can go.

This year Miles of Pennies will run from today to April 26.

Miles of Pennies challenges students and staff at each school to collect loose change to meet their fundraising goal.

Each school building keeps 100 percent of their funds raised, and will receive a $100 bonus from the Fort Dodge Community Schools Foundation if they reach their goal. Building administrators indicate what the funds will support.

Butler Elementary School has a goal of $1,500 to be used for a green screen, headphones, and reading/math intervention materials.

Cooper Elementary School’s goal is $1,000 to be used for books for small group instruction.

Duncombe Elementary School’s goal is $1,400 to be used for educational games during indoor recess.

Feelhaver Elementary School’s goal is $1,000 to be used for makerspace games and toys.

Riverside Early Learning Center’s goal is $500 to be used for headphones.

Fort Dodge Middle School’s goal is $2,000 to be used for fourth- to fifth-grade transition events.

Fort Dodge Senior High’s goal is $500 for books for building literacy.
