MNW sends three groups to All-State Speech

MANSON — The Manson Northwest Webster Large Group Speech Team recently finished another season, which ended with three groups receiving All-State Honors.

MNW hosted district large group contest, and despite a weather delay, the Cougars enjoyed a successful day. Groups performing at district contest and earning a I rating include: Stone Group Improv — Landon Stone and Jess Aber; Kenyon Group Improv — Shawn Kenyon, Adam Stange, and Trinity Johnson; Ensemble Acting — Alexis Stuhrenberg and Corynn Jensen; Solo Mime — Major Johnson; Solo Mime — Allie Rosenboom; Readers Theater — Brian Pearson, Ben Quade, Kate Schreier, Dakota Gailey, Samantha Ruhland, Courtney Wubben, Quinn Lachelt, Kelsey Widlund, Rylee Quade, and Brighton Pullen.

Choral Reading — Kate Schreier, Dakota Gailey, Courtney Wubben, Ben Quade, Brian Pearson, Major Johnson, Zoe Fiddelke, Autumn Marsh, Hannah Horn, Aubree Jones, Lexi Wood, Sean Peters, Adam Stange, Trinity Johnson, and Samantha Ruhland.

One Act Play — Zoe Fiddelke, Alexis Stuhrenberg, Lauren Harris, Jacob Fiddelke, Emma Anderson, Corynn Jensen, Lexi Wood, Quinn Lachelt, Aubree Jones, Ashley McLuckie, Landon Stone, Hannah Horn; Radio Broadcasting (K-Rome) — Matt Helmers, Jacob Fiddelke, Emma Reicks, Hunter Olson, Kelsey Widlund, Kaelie Johnson; Radio Broadcasting (Area 51) — Lauren Harris, Emma Anderson; Radio Broadcasting (Video games) — Naiven Moore, Avrey Hanson, Alex Lamphier.

Groups earning a II rating at district contest include: Ensemble Acting — Rylee Quade, Natalie Pearson, Maddie Moline, and Delaney Marine; Ensemble Acting II — Emma Larsen, Briley Condon, Elisa Macek, Kelanie Reyes.

State large group contest was held on Feb. 6 at Spencer High School. Groups earning a I (Excellent) rating included Choral Reading, One Act Play, all three radio broadcasting groups, Ensemble Acting, Johnson’s Mime, and Readers Theater.

Groups earning a II (Good) rating include: Stone Group Improv, Kenyon Group Improv, and Solo Mime — Allie Rosenboom.

Three groups were honored by being selected for the All-State Speech Festival held at Iowa State University in Ames. Those groups were Readers Theater (non-performing), Choral Reading and Major Johnson’s Solo Mime.

Choral Reading performed in front of a crowd of over 2,500 people in Stephens Auditorium.

“Performing in front of a crowd like that during my senior year is an experience I will never forget. It felt amazing,” said senior Brian Pearson.

Head Coach, Kim Keller, said, “The kids from MNW represented our school incredibly well. They not only performed well, they were great audience members.”
