Three UnityPoint Health -- Fort Dodge employees recently received the Sunshine Award.
They are:
• Kris Dyer, CMA, UnityPoint Clinic Kenyon Road Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine
• Julie Lowry, health unit coordinator, Cath Lab
• Paula Schulze, Housekeeper II in Environmental Services.
The award recognizes non-nursing team members who rise above expectations to brighten the day of patients or team members through their brilliant exemplary service.
Dyer was nominated by Amy Castro, senior clinic administrator, Specialty Clinics, for providing exceptional care and compassion to patients.
She said, "A patient called to let me know about her experience during a pulmonary function test. She shared that prior to testing, she was extremely anxious and emotional. After her appointment, she felt relief and gratitude because of the amazing experience she had with Kris. The patient expressed appreciation for the patience, empathy and encouragement, and felt truly supported during a very stressful experience."
Lowry was nominated by Amy Bair, device technician, TCVL, who said, "Julie collaborates care for our patients with all departments and clinics and makes sure our patients always get scheduled in a timely manner. Julie has worked here for many years and shares her knowledge and experience, going out of her way to assist team members to learn something new and help them to be successful at their roles."
Schulze was nominated by Bailey Williams, a registered nurse in Residency, Acute Care. She said, "Paula is a positive team member who is always smiling, helpful, and an all-around, genuinely kind person. She notices the small things and every time she enters a room with our patients, she takes the time to talk to them, know a piece of them and gives a lasting impression."
