UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center announced AJ Smith as the executive director of finance.

“AJ brings extensive experience in health care finance, business transformation and strategic planning,” said Leah Glasgo, president of UnityPoint Health — Fort Dodge. “In his role, AJ will partner closely with our senior leadership to drive financial performance, strategic planning and operational excellence.”

Smith most recently served as director of business transformation at Mary Greely Medical Center in Ames. He also works as an adjunct professor at the University of Iowa, where he leads the Executive Master of Health Administration Healthcare Financial Management course, sharing real-world insights with future health care leaders.

“In my first two months at UnityPoint Health — Fort Dodge, one thing is abundantly clear; this leadership team is unwavering in their mission to improve the health of this community,” said Smith. “I am thrilled to join a team that so closely aligns and actively pursues this shared mission.”

Smith holds a Master of Health Administration from the University of Iowa and bachelor’s degrees in finance and business administration from Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas.
