Anderson receives DAISY Award

Miranda Anderson

Miranda Anderson, a registered nurse in Emergency Services at UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center, has received the DAISY Award.

She was nominated for the honor by two people because of the care that she provided.

The first nomination was from the daughter of a patient.

“Miranda provided my mother with respect, showed compassion, understanding and was her authentic self,” the woman wrote.

The second nomination came from a patient who was apprehensive about receiving a specific type of medication.

“Miranda immediately made me feel at ease and comfortable when I was admitted,” the patient wrote. “She addressed all my concerns in the loveliest manner. She is a great nurse with a lot of empathy shown to patients and families. She is a wonderful asset to your hospital.”

DAISY is an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System. The DAISY Foundation was formed in January 2000 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who died at age 33 from complications of an auto-immune disease. His family wanted to say thank you to nurses everywhere by establishing the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses.

Starting at $4.94/week.
