Dr. R. Bruce Cochrane, a periodontist and prosthodontist in Fort Dodge, received the Distinguished Service Award from the Iowa Dental Association. It is the most prestigious honor given by the association

Cochrane served as president of the Iowa Dental Association, on the Iowa Dental Board, the Iowa Dental Foundation, the Iowa Board of Trustees, and as an official Iowa delegate at the American Dental Association Convention.

A graduate of the University of Nebraska College of Dentistry, Cochrane served four years in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, Cochrane was accepted into the specialty programs and fulfilled his residencies and specialty training at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
