The award recognizes non-nursing team members who rise above expectations to brighten the day of patients or team members through their brilliant exemplary service.

Byrne was nominated by Dawn Grall, manager in the Critical Care Unit, who describes her as someone continually going above and beyond to meet patient and department needs.

“Dawn has put a lot of work in assisting to get the home sleep studies up and going,” Grall said. “There really isn’t anything she wouldn’t do for the department and has come in on days off, weekends and evenings to do EEGs on patients in need.”

McCollum was nominated by Samantha McClintock, UnityPoint at Home, who shared the ways McCollum goes above and beyond for the people she serves in the Cancer Center.

“Emily is always very helpful and quick to assist in any way possible,” McCollum said. “She is very knowledgeable about her job and the various resources she can point people to when they are in need. When a simple answer can’t be given, she puts in the extra time to research and find the solution to best assist her patients and co-workers.”

Makuch was nominated by Chelsie Dobney, recruiter in Human Resources, for rising above and beyond the expectations of her role to brighten the day of team members.

“Ashley steps in to help anybody in any department,” she said. “One week, the Mashgin was down in the cafeteria, and within a couple minutes, she was ringing up patients and employees at the register. It’s not unusual to see her making coffee at Java City or rushing to support a team member going through a hard time.”
