Yunginger receives A.C.E. Award

Becky Yunginger

Becky Yunginger, a registered nurse in Pediatrics, received the A.C.E. Award at UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center.

Yunginger was nominated by Nicole Scully, a registered nurse in Obstetrics, and Jadie Lara, a registered nurse and charge nurse in Obstetrics, for the way she acted following a Level 2 Trauma, which included two pediatric trauma patients and two adult trauma patients brought in by ambulance following a car accident.

“Becky responded to this code situation and spent a short period of time in the Emergency Room with the youngest child,” Lara said. “She built a bond between herself and the child, while talking calmly and waiting patiently for someone to take over — and until the two brothers were reunited.”

Due to the father’s condition, he was airlifted to Des Moines, while the mother and children were treated in Fort Dodge.

“When the children and mother were stable enough to leave the hospital and go to Des Moines, they did not have a car seat for the youngest child, as their car seat was ruined from the accident,” Lara said. “After not being able to find a car seat for this child within the hospital, Becky offered to give them a car seat she had. Not once did Becky hesitate to help this family in need.”

The A.C.E. Award stands for Always Committed to Excellence and recognizes individuals for at least one specific, exemplary action.
