Two TRMC nurses honored; Grossnickle, Monaghan named Great Iowa Nurses

UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center is honored to recognize two of its nurses who have been selected as 2024 Great Iowa Nurses. This prestigious award annually recognizes nurses for their outstanding contributions to their patients, team members and the nursing profession.

They are:

• Patty Grossnickle, RN, RN coordinator, Norma Schmoker Cancer Center. Grossnickle has been with UnityPoint Health for 49 years. She started in Nutritional Services in 1975 and was hired as a licensed practical nurse (LPN) in 1977.

• Desiree Mona­ghan, MSN, director of surgical and emergency services. Monaghan has been a nurse for 12 years and worked at UnityPoint Health for almost six years.

“We are so proud to have Patty and Desiree on our team,” said Kari Jones, chief nursing officer at UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center. “With a combined 59 years of experience, they continue to provide excellent care for our patients, going above and beyond their responsibilities, while living our values each day. They are both examples of what a great nurse is.”

Great Iowa Nurses annually accepts nominations for Iowa-licensed nurses who have made a significant contribution to the profession. The 2024 award recipients will be honored during a virtual recognition ceremony this spring. For more information, visit greatiowanurses.org
