Davidson receives A.C.E. Award

Krystal Davidson

Krystal Davidson, sonographer at UnityPoint Clinic OB/GYN, received the A.C.E. Award at UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center.

She was nominated by her leader, Deanna Carnelley, senior clinic administrator — women’s services, for bringing forward an exceptional recruitment idea for the ultrasound team.

The A.C.E. Award stands for Always Committed to Excellence and recognizes individuals for at least one specific, exemplary action.

To become a certified OB ultrasound technician, individuals are required to complete a program at an accredited college or train under a licensed sonographer for a set amount of hours and then sit for boards. Not only are accredited colleges with ultrasound programs limited in Iowa, but that also requires a commitment and time away from work.

“Krystal is aware of the recruitment restraints around ultrasound technicians and wanted to think outside the box to assist us in a plan for the future,” said Carnelley. “She put together a proposal of offering her time to give on the job training to an individual who is interested in learning OB ultrasound. Krystal spent a lot of time researching this option before presenting it to her leadership, Human Resources and our Senior Team.”

Carnelley notes Davidson is deserving of the A.C.E. Award due to her going above and beyond her role to think of innovative ways to support the clinic.

“Krystal is passionate about her work, as well as the patients we serve,” she said. “By growing our team, we could expand into different types of ultrasound and provide much-needed backup support in our clinic.”
