Taylor elected to ISU Alumni Association Board

AMES — Kathy Taylor, of Fort Dodge, has been elected to the Iowa State University Alumni Association Board of Directors. Taylor graduated with distinction from Iowa State in 1980 with a bachelor’s degree in English and speech communication. She later got her master’s degree in communication from the University of Nebraska Omaha. Taylor is a life member of the ISU Alumni Association.

“I look forward to using my experience working in public relations to help the Alumni Association further its mission of facilitating a lifetime connnection of alumni, students, and friends with Iowa State University,” Taylor said.

Taylor is a retired vice president of corporate relations for Corn Belt Power Cooperative out of Humboldt. During her career, she oversaw publications, media relations, member relations, marketing, advertising, brand building, company meetings, speech writing, energy efficiency programs, and government relations functions for electric cooperatives throughout northern Iowa. She served on the original board of directors that helped create the Touchstone Energy Cooperatives brand for more than 750 electric cooperatives nationwide.

During her time at Iowa State, she was active in VEISHEA Central Committee, numerous theatrical productions, and sorority leadership positions with Alpha Xi Delta sorority. Beyond Iowa State, Taylor is an ordained elder at First Presbyterian Church of Fort Dodge and previously served as chair of the church’s foundation.

The ISU Alumni Association Board of Directors establishes policies regarding the finances, property, management, and activities of the association for the purpose of engaging constituents in the further advancement of Iowa State University and the ISU Alumni Association. The ultimate objective of the board is to assist the association staff and volunteers in carrying out the mission and strategic plan in collaboration with the strategic goals of the university and other affiliated organizations, which include learning, scholarship, and engagement.
