Nelson is certified healthcare constructor

Philip Nelson has earned the designation of certified healthcare constructor at UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center. Administered by the American Hospital Association, the CHC designation showcases professionals with a detailed understanding of completing construction and renovation projects in a nuanced healthcare setting.

Nelson has been employed by Trinity Regional Medical Center for six years, with more than 15 years of experience in facility management, engineering, maintenance and construction. He has an additional 18 years of industrial engineering, maintenance and maintenance management experience.

To earn the CHC designation, individuals must have knowledge and experience in activities in these four general areas: Healthcare Industry Fundamentals, Healthcare Facility Safety, Financial Stewardship, and Planning, Design and Construction Process.

The CHC Program promotes healthcare construction through certification of qualified individuals by providing a national standard of requisite knowledge. Nelson is the only person in Iowa to hold both CHC and Certified Healthcare Facility Manager designations. He has held the CHFM credential for 10 years.
