Construction has begun at SMCH

LAKE CITY — Big equipment and construction crews have moved in at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital. Fencing surrounds a large area of the hospital’s parking lot to prevent access to this area for the safety of patients, visitors and staff.

Patients and visitors to the hospital or those that are receiving outpatient services that require check-in at the Outpatient Registration Desk are asked to use the clinic driveway or enter the hospital parking lot from Monroe Street, south of Macke Motors. They are asked to then park near the Emergency Department entrance and enter through that door. Clinic patients should continue to use the parking lot to the west of McCrary Rost Clinic and use the clinic entrance for their appointments.

Cindy Carstens, CEO, said, “We are excited to see the building project moving forward. Over the next several months many changes will occur as the construction crews work on each phase of the project. To assure that our patients and the community have the most up to date information on how these changes will affect them as they receive care at SMCH our organization will provide timely updates highlighting that important information. Your safety is our priority during this project.”
