Allers honored for architectural achievements

Terry L. Allers, 2018-19 National Council of Architectural Registration Boards president-elect, was elevated to the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects in February.

This fellowship recognizes architects for their individual achievements and their contributions to society and the profession.

The 2019 Fellows were honored at an investiture ceremony during the annual AIA Conference on Architecture in Las Vegas on June 7.

Allers, of Fort Dodge, is president of Allers Associates Architects, PC. He founded the company in 1979.

has served as a member of the Iowa Architectural Examining Board for nine years, including several terms as board chair.

His volunteer work with NCARB includes service on the Audit, Broadly Experienced Architect, Education, Examination, Experience, and Experience Advisory committees, as well as terms as secretary/treasurer and vice chair of Region 4.

Allers, having served as vice president/president elect of NCARB will be inaugurated as the organization’s president at the Centennial Annual Business Meeting this month.

He has represented NCARB on the National Architectural Accrediting Board accreditation teams since 2009, having served as a visiting team member on three visits and as chair of a fourth visiting team.

Allers has been an NCARB Certificate holder and member of the American Institute of Architects since 1974.

He served on the Iowa Chapter of the AIA Board of Directors for three years. Allers is a graduate of Iowa State University and is licensed in Iowa and Minnesota.
