Parents of the couple are Charles and Shelly Koons, of Newton; and William and Cyndie Beaumont, of Iowa City.

An Aug. 5 wedding is planned.

Koons is a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa where she earned her bachelor’s degree in history education with endorsements in all social studies and coaching.

She is a teacher and swim coach of the boys and girls high school team for Fort Dodge Community Schools and a U.S.A. swim coach for the ACAC Swim Team.

Beaumont earned his bachelor’s degree in earth science and meteorology from the University of Northern Iowa. He is a sales associate at Menards and meteorologist with Freese-Notis.
