Andrew Parthum and Caitlin Ascherl

EMMETSBURG — Caitlin Ascherl, of Granville, and Andrew Parthum, of Centreville, Virginia, are engaged.

Parents of the couple are Joe and Donna Ascherl, of Granville; and Lawrence and Kate Parthum, of Centreville, Virginia. Grandparents are Paul Ascherl, of Emmetsburg, and the late Lois Ascherl; and Joe and Esther Schmitz, of Willey.

A March 25 wedding is planned.

Ascherl is a 2008 graduate of Spalding Catholic High School in Granville, a 2012 graduate of Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, Indiana, with a bachelor’s in mass communications. Additionally, she is a 2012 graduate of the University of Notre Dame Air Force ROTC and is currently working on her master’s in strategic communications while serving as a captain in the U.S. Air Force and working as a missileer in Minot, North Dakota.

Parthum is a 2007 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Alexandria, Virginia, and a 2011 graduate of Duke University with a bachelor’s in political science. He is an Air Force ROTC graduate receiving his commission in 2011 from the Duke University AF ROTC detachment. He served four years as a missileer in Minot before separating from the service as a captain in July of 2016. He is working on his master’s in business administration at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
