When Joe Laufersweiler passed away, some students from his daughter’s graduating class (2009 St Edmond) raised money for a scholarship in his name. They gave the money to the Fort Dodge Knights of Columbus Council 613 to offer as a scholarship. It was decided that the recipient should be pursuing a degree in mortuary science. Emily Dencklau was picked to receive the scholarship. She is in her last year of study for a mortuary science degree and is presently working an Internship at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home & Cremation Services. The scholarship was presented to Dencklau by Sarah Laufersweiler.
