Musical tells a heart-warming story

The Comedia Musica Players will present their annual fall musical, "Come From Away," on Nov. 12-14 at the newly renovated Historic Phillips Auditorium in Fort Dodge. The creative team behind the production includes Alyssa Sparks as show director, Dan Cassady and Jacob Pedersen as music directors, Shelly Bottorf as rehearsal accompanist and Jenna Hendrix as choreographer.

Welcome to the Rock! On Sept. 11, 2001, the world stood still. When 38 planes and 7,000 stranded passengers were forced to land in a small town in Newfoundland, Canada, their fears turned into trust, and what began as an-out-of-the-ordinary emergency became an inspiring celebration of human kindness, resilience, and community.

Based on remarkable true stories, this breathtaking musical takes you into the heart of the ordinary people who transformed tragedy into an international celebration of friendship. Featuring a high-energy folk-rock score and soaring harmonies, "Come From Away" reminds us that even in our darkest moments, we are never truly strangers.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for children/students, and are available online at www.comediamusica.com and at Hy-Vee's Customer Service department in Fort Dodge. Seating is General Admission, and doors open 45 minutes before the show start time.

NOTE: "Come From Away" does not have an official age rating, but theatrical producers generally recommend it for audiences 12 years and older. The show contains some adult language, references to alcohol and themes related to the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks including fear, grief and racism.

The musical will show at 7 p.m. on Nov. 12, 13, and 14. There is also a 2 p.m. matinee on Nov. 14.
