The Laramar Ballroom’s goal of supplying live entertainment to Fort Dodge and the surrounding area resumes with its annual spring show Friday, May 16.
The concert features three country singers with Iowa ties: Blake Jack, of Brooklyn; Xolex, of Chariton; and Spencer Suchan from Gowrie.
“We’re wanting to continue to bring music here as much as possible,” Sadie Andersen, co-owner and event manager, said. “We’d like to see another big crowd and a fun atmosphere for the evening.”
Jack’s latest single is called “Slow Motion Crash” and features Caroline Doud. His other singles include “Devil’s Heart,” “Love Comes to Call,” “Slow Burn,” and “Act Like I Like It.”
Xolex, who now lives in Nashville, Tennessee, performs original songs like “Had To Be A Cowboy,” but also covers songs like the Johnny Cash classic “Folsom Prison Blues.”

Suchan, who is early in his musical career, recently headlined the Thin Blue Line Gala held at the Laramar Ballroom to support law enforcement.
Doors for the May 16 concert open at 7 p.m. with Suchan beginning the show at 8 p.m. followed by Xolex and Jack. Tickets are $15 per person in advance and $20 at the door.
“People wanting to attend can go to eventbright.com for tickets,” Andersen said. “It’d be a good idea for anyone interested to purchase them soon, because our spring show usually draws a good crowd.”
There will be dancing on the ballroom’s wood ballroom floor, while drinks will be served during the evening at the bar. Andersen added they are seeking a food vendor, too.
According to Andersen, the venue will move into wedding season in the weeks after the show until the fall. It is also hosting a comedy show June 26 and 27 featuring Fort Dodge native Kimberly Koester and Sancho Pancho Villa along with Joe Huismann and headliner Charlie Mack.
