Iowa Central Community College announces youth theater auditions (Actors ages 8-18) for its upcoming spring musical, “The Prince of Egypt,” a powerful and visually stunning production based on the DreamWorks animated film. With music and lyrics by Grammy and Oscar winner Stephen Schwartz, the show features beloved songs like “When You Believe” and explores themes of identity, freedom, and destiny.

Audition Roles

• Role Title: Young Miriam

Gender: Female

Age Range: 8 – 11

Description: Moses’s Hebrew sister. Good singing voice. Devout, unswerving, simple-hearted, optimistic. Will also be part of Ensemble.

• Role Title: Young Aaron

Gender: Male

Age Range: 6 – 9

Description: Moses’s Hebrew brother. No lines. Will also be part of Ensemble.

• Role Title: Leah

Gender: Female

Age Range: 11 – 14

Description: One of Tzipporah’s younger sisters. Feisty and willing to fight when threatened. Good-humored, she and Keturah think their older sister is a bit of a head case, and they happily welcome Moses into their tribe. Will also be part of Ensemble.

• Role Title: Keturah

Gender: Female

Age Range: 15 – 17

Description: One of Tzipporah’s younger sisters. Feisty and willing to fight when threatened. Good-humored, she and Leah think their older sister is a bit of a head case, and they happily welcome Moses into their tribe. Will also be part of Ensemble.

Auditions will take place from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in CPA 142, located behind Decker Auditorium in the Center for Performing Arts Acting Suite. Youth performers are invited to prepare a song of their choice (any style), limited to 32 bars. An accompanist will be provided, or students may sing a cappella.

Participants should arrive 10 minutes early to check in and have their photo taken. If selected for callbacks, students will be asked to stay for a dance call at 6:30 p.m., and may be asked to read from the script. Additional callbacks may be scheduled for Nov. 20.

Important Note: High school students enrolled in Iowa Central college classes should attend the separate college student auditions on Nov. 17. Details for those auditions are available at castingmanager.com.

“The Prince of Egypt” will run Feb. 25 through March 1, 2026, and promises to be a moving and memorable theatrical experience for performers and audiences alike.
