The ball will begin at 6 p.m. April 13 at Fort Dodge Ford Lincoln Toyota, 2723 Fifth Ave. S.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Tickets for those under 18 cost $10. People who buy four tickets can get a fifth one free.

Tickets are available at the animal shelter, 725 S. 32nd St. and at almosthome.org.

“If you enjoy fellowship, fabulous food and furever homes, this is the event for you with affordable ticket prices, great entertainment and spectacular auction items,” said Paul Shane, the executive director of the humane society..

“It costs about $40,000 a month to keep the shelter running and each year we raise around $33,000 so we appreciate all the sponsors and volunteers for the Fur Ball that help make this happen each year,” he added.

Money raised at the Fur Ball helps to pay for animal food, veterinary bills, medications, vaccinations, utilities and upkeep of the shelter.

The evening’s events will include live and silent auctions, a 50/50 raffle, door prizes, and a pet trivia contest.

“Entertainment has grown to include live music, strolling magic, a K9 demonstration from the Fort Dodge Police Department and an opportunity to witness the transformation of a shelter dog into an obedient pet that everyone wants in their home by our behavior specialist,” Shane said. “In addition, there are many unique, limited edition and rare hard to find auction items available for purchase this year that Fort Dodge has never seen before or had an opportunity to purchase in the past.”

Food will be provided by Amigo’s, of Fort Dodge. There will also be a cash bar.

Guests will be able to meet as many as five of the dogs from the shelter that are available for adoption.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Almost Home Humane Society of North Central Iowa. In those four decades, it has saved more than 17,000 animals.
