‘Cash for Cougars’ Phone-a-Thon is Monday
MANSON — On Monday evening, the Manson Northwest Webster Education Foundation will sponsor its 22nd annual “Cash for Cougars” Phone-a-Thon.
This event has been very successful in past years at soliciting and accepting pledges and raising funds for MNW Seniors to use for college expenses.
Last year’s “Cash for Cougars’ telethon raised over $8,000 in donations, which were distributed to those seniors who helped with the event. With college costs continuing to rise, another successful year is hoped for as well. All monies generated through this telethon are distributed to the student workers.
The Seniors will meet at the MNW Elementary School in Barnum at 5 p.m. to share a meal together, receive instructions and begin calling patrons of the school district and friends and family outside of the district at 5:30 p.m.
All calling will be completed by 9 p.m. Follow-up mailings will be made for any persons who were missed.
The MNW Foundation is a nonprofit corporation chartered by the State of Iowa.
Interested citizens of the school community with the support of the MNW Board of Education was established in 1996. This Education Foundation, however, operates completely independent of the school district. It is overseen and guided in all its endeavors by an independent Board of Trustees. This Board consists of farm, business, education and civic leaders who represent a broad section of the school district and communities.
With the support of the community and area, the MNW Education Foundation has been able to raise funds privately each year to enrich the educational opportunities for students. When the group first started, two scholarships were awarded, this year the Foundation will award up to six scholarships to the MNW Senior Class of 2022.
