Auditions sought for Stage Door Productions’ summer production

Stage Door Productions will be putting on a summer production.

The creative team for this production will consist of: Director Megan Cassady, Assistant Director/Choreographer Esther Laupp, and rehearsal accompanist Brady O’Brien.

The unique part of this production, is that it is being tailored to the students auditioning. Students will have the opportunity to be part of solos, duets, small groups, singers and/or dancers too. We have brainstormed different possibilities and this seems the most productive and still in line with our mission of providing cognitive, emotional and social benefits to youth and still increases availability and accessibility to theater.

Auditions will be held May 16 from 1 to 2 p.m. or 6 to 7:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 127 N. St. Students need only attend one. Auditions are open to all students ages 6 – 18.

This year only, auditions are open to 2020 graduates who were unable to participate in 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Rehearsals will begin the week of May 23. Recordings will be done the weeks of July 12 to 17 and July 19 to 24. Mandatory availability is a must.

The performances will be available, virtually, the week of Aug. 1.

More information will be released regarding this once we have our audition numbers.

“I am so excited to be a part of this summer’s project,” said Cassady. “While it is not Shrek Jr., we have an amazing production that we will create together. This summer will look a lot different than the previous Stage Door Production musicals, but it will not disappoint. While we are still working out the details, it will be important to be flexible this summer. I can’t wait to direct and see all of you this summer. Get excited for a wonderful summer full of music.”
