Masquerade for Your Health Ball is Oct. 7

Grab those platforms, break out that polyester suit and get ready to boogy because this year’s theme for the annual Masquerade for Your Health Ball is the Groovy ’70s.

“Since this year is Shimkat’s 70th anniversary, we decided to tie that into the theme,” said Lydia Schuur, outreach coordinator for the Community Health Center of Fort Dodge. ”We thought the ’70s theme was a perfect way to comemorate Shimkat’s anniversary. Shimkat is a huge supporter of the clinic and we wanted to make sure to tie them into the health ball.”

This year the third annual Masquerade for Your Health Ball will be held on Oct. 7 at Shimkat Motor Co., 3126 Fifth Ave. S. The event starts at 6 p.m. and the dinner will begin at 7 p.m.

Guests can come come dressed in their favorite ’70s attire, but there is no requirement to dress up.

The Community Health Center of Fort Dodge is in its 11th year of service to Fort Dodge and surrounding areas. CHCFD offers medical, dental, and behavioral health services, and fees are based are charged on a sliding scale based on a patient’s finances.

Tickets are $45 per person in advance or $50 at the door. They can be purchased by contacting the Community Health Center of Fort Dodge at 576-6500.

Cameron Nelson will be the master of ceremonies throughout the night to help entertain the audience during the evening.

“Cameron is hilarious and will keep the night interesting for those attending the Ball,” Schuur said.

During the event will also be a raffle drawing. Tickets cost $50 each.

Prizes for the raffle includes a $7,500 Travel and Transport gift card, $2,500 Sears Hometown Store gift card, and a $1,500 Hy-Vee gift card. Participants do not have to be present to win.

Also during the ball will be a game show for guests to play. The game is very similar to “Lets Make A Deal,” where the contestants will offered something of value and given the chance to keep it or exchange it for a different item.

For guests to participate, they will have to pay a fee of $5.

All the money raised during the event will go towards ongoing expenses at the clinic, such as medical equipment.
