KYL to hold teen events

WEBSTER CITY — Kendall Young Library will hold a variety of teen events throughout the summer.

Teen Summer Reading Program — Patrons entering sixth through 12th grades are invited to join in a variety of “Plant a seed, Read” summer programs. There is a 10-day reading challenge along with both scheduled and “on your own time” programs each week. Detailed information is available at the Adult Checkout Desk or in the teen area.

Fancy Your Flowerpot — Stop in to vote for your favorite in the “Fancy Your Flowerpot” contest this July. Flowerpots are on display by the checkout desk. Please only one vote per visit per patron. Winners will be announced in August.

Teen Lounge — Patrons entering sixth through 12th grades are invited from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This is a great time to hang out with friends and join us weekly for video games, snacks, crafts, board games, and more.

July 9, 1:30 to 3 p.m. — Patrons are invited to play the BIG GAMES in the Teen Area. Anyone 8 years and older or with an adult can stop in an enjoy the fun.

Aug. 4, 10 to 11:30 a.m. — Patrons are invited to watch the movie “Hoppers” in the Teen Area. Anyone 8 years and older or with an adult can stop in an enjoy the fun.

Aug. 11, 10 to 11:30 a.m. — Patrons are invited to play the BIG GAMES in the Teen Area. Anyone 8 years and older or with an adult can stop in an enjoy the fun.

Teen Crafternoons and Junk Journal Station — Back by popular demand, the Kendall Young Teen area will have a Crafternoon each week throughout the summer. Beginning on Wednesdays, a new craft will be presented. The Junk Journal Station will include sticker, paper, paper punches, and other tidbits to be used in your journaling. Bring your journal and document your adventures. These activity are available whenever the library is open. Make plans to stop each week and find your creative side.

The Teen Area STEM Cart is available for the adventurous builder. We have a variety of plans that can prime your inventive spirit. All materials will be provided. Teens are invited to stop at the reference desk anytime throughout the month to get more information. This activity will be available all summer long.

Community Lego Build — Students are invited to participate in building the Lego “Stranger Things: The Creel House.” This project is available during all open hours of the library and it located in the teen area.

As always, the teen area located in the Kendall Young Library offers a variety of board games, community Lego build, Chromebooks, video games, books, and activities that are always available. Stop in for the fun.
