Kendall Young Library holds adult programs in May
WEBSTER CITY — Kendall Young Library will hold Adult Programs throughout the month of May.
KYL Adult Book Clubs
Adult Daytime Book Club — Kendall Young Library invites you to join in the May Book Club discussion on “There Are Rivers In The Sky” by Elif Shafar. This book is available at the Adult Checkout if you are interested in participating. We will meet from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday to discuss. A book for the June Book Club will be announced at this time.
Adult Evening Book Club — Kendall Young Library invites you to join in the Adult Evening Book Club discussion about “The Road To Tender Hearts” by Annie Hartnett. This book is available at Adult Checkout if you are interested in participating. We will meet from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. June Book Club books will be available at this time.
Books & Bourbon Silent Book Club — Kendall Young Library will host a Silent Book Club at Seneca Street Saloon, 919 Seneca St. This will be our last meet up before fall. Adults are invited to gather together from 5 to 6:30 May 21. Bring a book, grab a drink, and enjoy an introvert happy hour. This event is always the third Thursday of each month.
KYL Adult Events
JOB FAIR BY IOWA WORKS — Iowa Works will host a job fair at Kendall Young Library from 1 to 3 p.m. on Thursday. Multiple employers will be present to help you explore the jobs and careers they have available. This event is open to anyone and will be held in the KYL meeting room.
FIRST AID AND CPR TRAINING — Heather Rice will offer First Aid and CPR Training at Kendall Young Library on May 19. This certification is a hybrid format and requires online coursework prior to training. (Heartsaver Total — First Aid CPR AED Online — $23). Adult DIY — Kendall Young Library will host Adult DIY from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on May 26. Patrons can make a flower pot face. Everything you need will be available to spruce up your plants! This event is free and does not require registration. Bring a friend and enjoy the evening out.
Fiber Arts Hangout — Kendall Young Library will host a time to work on your favorite fiber arts project from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on May 28. There are patrons available who can help if you want to start learning how to crochet, but you are welcome to bring your own project to work on and socialize. This is a fun time to relax and learn from others. All ages 16+ are invited to come and some supplies will be available. There is no registration required.
Puzzle Competition (Age 14+) — Register for a fast-paced Puzzle Competition at your level. Kendall Young Library is hosting two different levels of competition for teams of four to finish the puzzle first. Participants looking for a leisurely fun — Beginner (300 piece puzzle) or Competitive — Advanced (500 piece puzzle) can sign up online or call KYL. Join us beginning at 10:30 a.m. on May 30 to test your puzzling skills. This event is free. Teams of four must include a minimum of one adult. Space is limited; registration required.
SPICE Club — Kendall Young Library invites you to add some spice to your life with the KYL Spice of the Month Club. We will be featuring ras el hanout, a spice mix used in many Moroccan dishes. Samples will be available throughout the month while supplies last. This is a fun way to explore different cultures and flavors. Each month there will be a featured herb or spice. A limited number of kits will be available each month with a small sample, information about the spice, and a couple recipes to try.
