‘Music of the West African Kora’ for adults and teens at the Fort Dodge Public Library July 14
Join the Fort Dodge Public Library, 424 Central Ave., to listen to “Music of the West African Kora” at 6 p.m. on July 14 in the large meeting room. Sean Gaskell features songs on the kora – a 21 stringed West African harp. The kora is traditionally played by oral historians known as Griots. Many songs featured on the kora preserve an 800 year history dating back to the foundation of the Mande empire. If you are a music lover, you will love this program.
