KYL May adult library special events planned
WEBSTER CITY — Kendall Young Library will be hosting a variety of special events in May
Plant Smarter, Not Harder with Alison Studer — Please join us on May 13 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. to hear some landscaping Do’s and Don’ts for DIYers. Alison Studer, a landscape designer and an ISA Certified Arborist will be sharing tips on getting the best from your landscaping.
How to “READ” a Cemetery — In preparation of Memorial Day, Kendall Young Library will be hosting a program on “How to “READ” a Cemetery.” On May 20 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., Jen Ohzourk from the West Des Moines Public Library will be guiding us through some of the questions we have when visiting a cemetery. Plan to join us and bring your questions. Have you ever been in a cemetery and wondered about some of the people buried there? Curious about why there are obelisks in some cemeteries? Are you doing some genealogical research and aren’t sure about the meaning of some of the symbols you’re finding? Please join us for an entertaining and informative presentation exploring common cemetery iconography. You’ll learn about how even though there are multiple points of views and facets to these images, the symbolism is represented across many cemeteries.
Coming in June — Kendall Young Library will be hosting the popular puzzle competition on June 21. We will also be hosting an embroidery workshop, presented by Handful of Made Creation Co. on June 24 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.. Both programs will require pre-registration. Watch for details.
Please check our website calendar on kylib.org or follow us on Facebook for detail on all the great programming.
