Cleaning headstones at Oakland Cemetery Sept. 24
The Friends of Oakland Cemetery are hosting the Second annual “Clean the Headstones Party” at the Historic Oakland Cemetery, 1617 N. 15th St., across from Gunderson Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Sept. 24. The public, church groups, Boy Scouts, service organizations, businesses and other groups are encouraged to join the party for a couple of hours. The cleaning solution, spray bottles and brushes will be provided. There will be parking up on top of the hill from the main entrance. For more information, call Rick Carle at 515-570-0606. Last year around 20 headstones were cleaned.
