RSVP seeks penpals for students
Central Iowa RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program) has a fun project in which people over the age of 55 write to fifth graders to help them learn the art of letter writing. This year, Southeast Valley Middle School in Burnside has requested an expansion of the pen pal program to include all three of their fifth grade classes, so 50 more pen pals are needed. St. Edmond Elementary in Fort Dodge is participating for the first time in the pen pal program, and has 42 students in the fifth grade. That means many new pen pals are needed.
If you are at least age 55, and would be willing to write one letter a month to a fifth grade student, please contact Becky Koppen, RSVP volunteer coordinator, at 515-832-2525.
