ISU Extension: Online course can help you manage money

Is there something special you want to do this summer? A trip? A landscaping project? The annual state fair week? Whatever your summer goals, they’ll probably require some money. The same goes for longer-term goals too, of course.

“Reaching financial goals means taking control of your money and making sure your money goes toward your top priorities,” says Barb Wollan, a Human Sciences specialist with ISU Extension and Outreach. “That’s true even for smaller goals like a wedding gift or paying of a past-due bill.”

Wollan recommends Take Control of Your Money, ISU Extension’s free online course in basic financial skills, as a way to take a fresh look at your finances, learn new strategies, and gain new tools to make your finances run smoothly. The site offers a variety of learning options, letting you choose what fits your needs.

Take Control of Your Money addresses goal-setting, planning, following plans, and more. It’s useful for those who already have some helpful habits, and just want to stretch a little further AND for those who want a complete financial make-over.

Wollan also points out that in-person workshops on a variety of financial topics are also available for groups. Contact the Webster County Extension office at 576-2119 for more information.

The course can be found at https://www.extension.iastate.edu/humansciences/take-control

Starting at $4.94/week.
