Calhoun County Museum to hold dance Oct. 4

ROCKWELL CITY – A free dance, sponsored by the Calhoun County Historical Society, will be 6:30 p.m. Oct. 4 at the Calhoun County Museum in Rockwell City.

This year marks the 11th annual dance at the museum. The evening will include dancing, listening and conversing with friends, along with goodies including pop, coffee, bars and popcorn. Admission is free, but free will donations will be accepted.

Music will be provided by Denny Anderson’s nine-piece Al Welsh Orchestra which will play music from the big band era, along with many of the dance tunes of the 1920s, ’30s, ’40s and ’50s.

The Calhoun County Museum, located at 150 High St., has housed a vast amount of artifacts for more than 20 years.

Organizers said the dance is a way of saying thank you to all Calhoun County and neighboring county residents who have supported the museum in a number of ways.
