HUMBOLDT -- Kurt Paeper, of Humboldt, will celebrate his 80th birthday from 3 to 6 p.m. on Oct. 17 at the VFW in Dakota City. He and his wife, Rosemary, will also celebrate their 26 years together.

He was born on Oct. 20, 1946, in Storm Lake. He served in Vietnam in 1967-1968. He was inducted into the Iowa Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame in 2000. He retired from Van Diest Supply at Pioneer in 2011.
