Tom Hoefing

MANSON — Tom Hoefing, of Manson, will celebrate his 90th birthday with an open house from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Manson Event Center, 926 Main St., Manson.

His family includes his wife, Helen Hoefing; Rachelle and Henry Putney, of Winterset; and Laurie Paulsen, of Mitchell, South Dakota. He has six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Hoefing was born Dec. 22, 1935, in Fort Dodge. He attended and graduated from Manson High School. He served in the 82nd Army Airborne from October 1956 to October 1958. He worked as a lineman and crew leader for Iowa-Illinois Gas Electric (now MidAmerican Energy) for 35 years.
