His family includes Nancy and Roger DeVries, Diane Schulz, Joan and Don Portz, and Keith and Carla Trusty. Trusty has 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. His wife Darlene is deceased.

Trusty was born on Jan. 31, 1929, in his grandparents home in Badger.

He graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1947 and later enlisted in the Air National Guard. Trusty was deployed to Korea where he served with the Air Control and Warning Squadron until he was honorably discharged in 1954. He worked at Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric Company for 43 years until retiring in 1991.

He married Darlene Carlson on June 2, 1951, in Lundgren, at The United Brethren Church and they spent their first year of marriage living in Alexandria, Louisiana. After his discharge, the couple returned to Fort Dodge. They were married until Darlene’s death in 2016 just a few months before their 65th wedding anniversary.

Trusty is a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge and has lived at Friendship Haven since 2017.
