Doris Harms

Doris “Dody” Harms, of Fort Dodge, will celebrate her 90th birthday on Aug. 29. An open house will be held from 1 to 4 p.m on July 15 at the Tompkins Celebration Room at Friendship Haven. Cards can be sent to her at 420 Kenyon Road, Fort Dodge, IA 50501.

Her family includes Laura and Jack Shere, of Charlotte Hall, Maryland; Jeff Harms, of Fort Dodge; Anne and Dean Panovich, of Shawnee, Kansas; and Beth and Stephen Ball, of Denver, Colorado. She has 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Doris Nelson was born Aug 29, 1933, in Eagle Grove. She graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1950 and from Eagle Grove Junior College in 1952. She taught first grade in Jefferson from 1952 to 1955 and at Duncombe Elementary School from 1955 to 1958 before becoming a full-time mother.
