Paul Brown

Dr. Paul Franklin Brown will celebrate his 100th birthday on May 3 with a family cake party in the Celebration Center at Friendship Haven.

His family includes George and Carol Brown, Ann and Tom Turner, Janet and Kurt Pittner, Jim and Pat Brown, Paula and Mike McNabb, Carol and Tony Hauser and Phil and Meg Brown. He has 23 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.

He was born May 3, 1923, in East St. Louis, Illinois. He attended De Paul University and then graduated from Washington University Medical School in St. Louis in 1947. He married Doris Anne Phillips in 1946. Paul and his family lived in La Paz, Bolivia, for several years doing medical missionary work before settling in Maquoketa, where he practiced family medicine for 65 years. He served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy. The couple retired to Fort Dodge in 2006.
