Dr. Michael Stitt, of Fort Dodge, celebrated his 80th birthday on Friday.

His family includes his wife, Carole Stitt, Kim and Bill Shimkat, of Fort Dodge; Stephanie and Kyle Cox, of Waukee; Alyssa and Garron Williams, of Mankato, Minnesota; and Kristen and Andy Morrison, of Arlington Heights, Illinois. He has 11 grandchildren.

Stitt was born on March 3, 1943. He graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1961 and the University of Iowa College of Medicine in 1968. He served as a family practice physician from 1971 to 2014. He has served as a volunteer team physician for Fort Dodge Senior High since 1971 and received the Iowa High School Athletic Directors Association Outstanding Sports Medicine Award. He is a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran.
