Roger Snell

DUNCOMBE — Roger Snell, of Duncombe, will celebrate his 80th birthday Aug. 28.

His family includes his siblings: twins Jean and Joan Snell, Donald Snell, Marilyn Egli, Gordon Snell, Cheryl Smith, Alecia Wooster and Pam Bygness.

Snell was born on August 28, 1942, in his family home outside of Fort Dodge. He graduated from the University of Iowa and wanted to pursue his law degree after his college graduation but instead enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as Lieutenant in Intelligence Advisory Officer in Vietnam. He returned to Fort Dodge, where he taught for two years at North Junior High School and then later taught Spanish at Fort Dodge Senior High School from 1970 until his retirement in 2004. He continues to be an active substitute teacher for the Fort Dodge Senior High School.
