Marvel McCormack

Marvel McCormack, of Fort Dodge, will celebrate her 85th birthday with an open house from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Citizens Central, 617 Central Ave.

Her family includes Bruce and Cindy McCormack, of Gowrie; Debbie and Greg Cook, of Rochester, Minnesota; Linda and Tom Redman, of Fort Dodge; Cathy and Keith Lawler, of Fort Dodge; Terri and Darrin Andrews, of Brandon, South Dakota; Kevin and Tracy McCormack, of Fort Dodge; Pam and Jon Crouch, of Fort Dodge; and Michelle McCormack, of Clarion. She has 18 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Her husband Jim is deceased.

Marvel O’Brion was born on Feb. 13, 1935, in Fort Dodge. She spent many years as a homemaker raising eight children. She has served almost 25 years as a foster grandparent in the Fort Dodge Community School District and has contributed over 20,700 hours to the program. She is currently serving at Cooper School in Jeanna Gronbach’s first grade classroom.
